How do I flash tunes to my tuck?

This comprehensive guide will take you through the installation process step by step. Please follow each instruction diligently to ensure the optimal functionality of the tuning process. If you encounter any issues that require advanced troubleshooting, don't hesitate to create a support ticket.

Preparing Your Vehicle for Tuning:

  1. Close all vehicle doors and disconnect any electronic accessories before connecting the programmer to your truck. It is imperative to keep the doors closed and electronics turned off during the flashing process.

Warning: Never, under any circumstances, unplug the AutoCal/V2 device while it is reading or flashing the vehicle.

  2. Avoid attempting to install a tune if the vehicle's battery voltage is low. It is highly recommended that you connect the truck to a high-quality trickle charger while performing the flash. Using a battery that cannot maintain voltage may result in voltage spikes or drops, potentially damaging the ECM, AutoCal/FlashScan, or other electrical components.

  3. For LB7 and LLY Duramax models, you may need to remove specific fuses before flashing. Failure to do so can result in an error.

Now you are ready to flash the tune to your truck.

  1. Plug the AutoCal into the truck's OBD-II port using the supplied cable.

  2. Turn the key to the "RUN" position; do not attempt to start the vehicle.

  3. Select "Tuning Tool" and confirm by pressing the check mark.

  4. Choose "Tuning" and press the check mark.

  5. Scroll down to "Program Full" and select it by pressing the check mark.

  6. Locate your tune file, which for DSP5 tunes should be named Mod_DSP5_ACL, or for single tunes, it will be named Mod_XHP_ACL. Once you've made your selection, confirm by pressing the check mark.

  7. You will receive a warning message; please read it and confirm by pressing the check mark. You'll then be prompted to license the ECU, again confirming by pressing the check mark.

  8. The AutoCal will initiate the full programming of the tune onto your ECU, with a progress bar indicating the process. Once the progress bar reaches 100%, a message will appear, indicating that the tune has been successfully flashed and instructing you to turn the ignition off. Follow the instructions, turn off the ignition, and press the check mark. Once the countdown is completed, you can unplug your AutoCal/FlashScan from the OBD-II port and start your truck. During this step, it is highly advised to monitor the AutoCal as it may display error messages, even at 100% completion. Make a note of these messages as you may need them when contacting the support team.
